We understand that financial modeling for a growing company carries with it a unique set of challenges. Many times the underlying assumptions for major levers and constraints in the model have not been fully tested in the real world and require a mixture of educated guesses and past experiences.
Having built over 100 models for varying revenue models, industries and growth trajectories, we have a unique vantage point in creating models that maintain accountability while still offering enough flexibility. Whether your business model is SaaS, Product, Service, Advertising or Channel, the simple fact is: different growth trajectories require different amounts of working capital. Using our custom models developed internally over years of iterations, we are able to create a framework to examine different growth scenarios. In addition, collectively as a team we can draw upon our cumulative knowledge placing guesses based on recent past learning that take into account technology and other nuances.
Instead of being a snapshot in time, these models become living documents and are updated as information improves about how the business will scale. Furthermore, these models do not exist only to help raise bank or investor funding but instead become the basis for the annual budget. By designing a model and budget structure like this we are able to “gate” certain expenses based on different revenue and customer targets. This leads to an adaptive spending plan that can react to an environment where traction maybe be better (or worse) than previously projected.
